Yipee! I guess I've made the pretty big times with Grass Valley! First i get a call from Mike Downey while we're vacationing in NYC, then an invitation to be featured as a Edius case study. That's pretty cool. See the article here. (careful... it's .pdf!)
So as a videographer I suppose I need to have some kind of rate structure so folks can get an idea of whether or not to hire me based on the dimensions of their checkbook balance. And in these lousy times I can't blame people for having a cut-off based some tangible value.
Here's a start...
$75/hr. - You get me, my EX1 and two wireless mics - 2 hr. min. Mileage - $0.50/mi. from Sacramento - The first 20 mi. is free. Based on Google Maps mileages from my location. For this price you walk home with the unedited footage.
Other options... Additional wireless mics. On-site editing. DVD creation. DVD duplication. Editing.
As everyone knows, pricing can vary for each project. So call for a quote.

Photobooth!

Unfortunately, the photobooth market is pretty saturated, so I'm going to have to offer something that's somewhere in between traditional photo and video. Yes, it's important to have the capabilities to print take-away images, so I will offer them for sure. On the less traditional side, I'll be making music videos of photobooth guests, along the line of this...
So what to charge for a service like this? I think to be competitive I'll need to be flexible, but I need to start somewhere. Some may just want the images on CD, some may want prints, while other want costumes. So here goes...
$100 - Minimum setup charge. $125/hr. - "booth time" 2 hr. minimum. $75/hr. - Printer & supplies. $50/hr. - personalized web page with image preview and downloading. $50/hr. - images to music video like Josh's video above. Free - Images on CD - full-sized and batch re-sized for the web. Varies - Scrapbook supplies. Varies - Costumes.
